FirstKidz is the ministry to families of Kindergarten-5th graders, and partners with parents to equip children with the tools to know, follow and share Christ. We believe Christ-centered teaching is a must to develop a strong relationship with Jesus so families can be life-long, confident disciples impacting the world for Him.

Sundays in FirstKidz

In FirstKidz we use the Gospel Project for Kids curriculum which is a 3 year chronological study of the Bible. It is designed so that in the 6 years spent in FirstKidz (Kindergarten - 5th Grade) each child will journey through the Bible twice.

9:30 AM - FirstKidz Worship

FirstKidz Worship is a high energy, Gospel intentional time of learning how to worship God through music, devotion and even games!

11:00 AM - Connect Groups

During Connect Group time, your child can expect to engage with others of the same age in discussions about the Bible and how it is relevant to their daily lives,

AWANA provides a discipleship ministry for children ages 3 (by September 1, 2023) – 5th grades. Children are engaged in God’s Word through scripture memorization, games, and mission opportunities. AWANA meets at FirstKidz every Wednesday (August through May) from 6:15 pm to 7:40 pm.

Kids will be challenged as they discover that God’s truth never changes, everyone needs Jesus, and learn to speak the truth in love. Adventure awaits each day as kids explore tide pools, spot orcas, fly kites, and watch the mighty waves crash up against the immovable Breaker Rock!

Woodlands Freestyle

June 24th-28th | All ages

Woodlands Freestyle is a day camp program for elementary age kids on site at local churches. For years, campers have packed up their bags and come to Woodlands; Now, we pack up Woodlands and bring it to you! We bring everything you need to have the most epic, incredible, dare I say… unforgettable week of your life!

CentriKid

July 8th-12th | Boiling Springs, NC

Camp week is biblical, relational, and phenomenally fun! For five days, your child learns and grows in Christ through gospel-intentional worship time, small group time and play time. It's truly a week they'll never forget! CentriKid Summer Camp is for 3rd - 5th graders (completed grade).

Seekers in Sneakers

This three week study is for 1st-5th graders who are asking what it means to become a Christian, to become a follower of Christ. The class is taught on Sunday mornings during the 9:30 hour. Contact laura@fbccumming.org for dates and openings.

Recommended Books

The Bible we recommend the most for new readers is the NiRV as it is geared more towards young readers.

The Bible we recommend for more confident readers is the The CSB Big Picture Interactive Bible as this is the same version used on Sundays in FirstKidz and it parallels the Gospel Project for Kids curriculum.

Foundations for Kids is a 260-day reading plan for kids. This devotion follows the H.E.A.R. method. The acronym H.E.A.R. stands for Highlight, Explain, Apply, and Respond. Each of these four steps contributes to creating an atmosphere to hear God speak:
HIGHLIGHT: Kids will study God’s Word and memorize a verse.
EXPLAIN: Kids will read an explanation of the verses.
APPLICATION: Kids will work an activity to help them apply the Bible truth.
RESPOND: Kids will have the opportunity to respond in prayer.

For new believers, I'm a Christian Now: is revised to include a parent-friendly focus. This eight-week activity book helps kids know more of spiritual disciplines and the next steps of going deeper in discipleship. There are Older and Younger versions available.

The LifeWay Kids app has the resources that you need to journey with your kids through the bible in what they are learning on Sunday mornings. You can download it from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.
